On June 26, 2025, Ripple unveiled its collaboration with Wormhole, a leading cross-chain protocol that will enhance interoperability for the XRP Ledger (XRPL). On June 26, The Block reported that this integration covers both XRPL's mainnet and EVM Sidechain, and it also introduces cross-chain messaging, asset transfers, and multichain token issuances.
This move bolsters Ripple’s strategy to position XRPL as a cornerstone for institutional blockchain-driven finance. Wormhole's relevance in the sector is highlighted by its established partnerships with major players such as BlackRock, Securitize, and Apollo. Furthermore, Wormhole offers compatibility across more than 35 blockchains, an ecosystem Ripple seeks to leverage. This strategic integration aims to streamline asset movement and smart contract interactions across networks, thereby fostering enhanced connectivity.
On June 26, David Schwartz, Ripple's Chief Technology Officer, commented on the collaboration, stating, “Cross-chain solutions enable networks to collaborate seamlessly, unlocking critical innovations for mainstream use.”
