- OpenSea's active monthly user base hit 467,322 in May 2025. - The OS2 launch and a new rewards system contributed to this surge. On June 9, 2025, The Block reported that OpenSea's active user base in May 2025 reached its highest level since mid-2023. The platform recorded 467,322 active users in May, a resurgence comparable to active user levels from mid-2022 to early 2023. Furthermore, the upward trend continues into June, with the platform having already registered 236,091 active users this month. The official launch of OS2 on May 29, 2025, largely contributed to this increase in user activity. The OS2 platform first became available in beta on January 27, 2025, and initially catered exclusively to Gemesis NFT holders. The broader release introduced several new features; for example, users can now trade tokens and NFTs across 19 different blockchains, including Solana's fungible tokens. Additionally, Voyages, the platform's new rewards system, incentivizes on-chain activities by granting users XP, which further boosts platform engagement. On May 30, 2025, Cointelegraph reported that the OS2 platform is now fully operational. According to OpenSea's Chief Marketing Officer Adam Hollander, the platform has seen a 40% increase in weekly unique collectors since January 2025, indicating a growing interest in and utilization of the new multi-chain trading capabilities and reward incentives. Despite the notable increase in active users, OpenSea's trading volume remains significantly lower than its peaks in 2021 and early 2022. In May 2025, the platform's trading volume totaled $81 million. This amount represents a drastic decrease from January 2022, when trading volume exceeded $5 billion. According to CoinMarketCap on June 9, Ethereum (ETH) traded at $2,850 as of 15:00 UTC, and its 24-hour trading volume had decreased by 1.4%.
