- U.S. President Donald Trump earned $57.4 million from World Liberty Financial's token sales in 2024.
- Trump holds 15.75 billion governance tokens in the DeFi project.
On June 16, 2025, Cointelegraph reported that U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed an income of $57.4 million as part of his 2025 financial filing with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics. On June 16, Forbes, Reuters, and Mint also reported the disclosure, which showed Trump earned approximately $57.4 million from World Liberty Financial in 2024, primarily through token sales. Furthermore, the filing indicated Trump holds 15.75 billion governance tokens in World Liberty Financial, which grant him voting rights in the DeFi project.
Trump and his sons back World Liberty Financial, a project that launched in September 2024 and focuses on DeFi and dollar-pegged stablecoins. By March 2025, World Liberty Financial had raised approximately $550 million through token sales, and Trump serves in roles described as "chief crypto advocate" and "inspiration" for the platform.
The disclosure highlights Trump's financial involvement in the crypto sector, which is notable as his administration advances policies targeting the industry. Beyond the income from token sales, reports indicate the Trump family has earned over $400 million from World Liberty Financial. In addition, the family maintains stakes in other crypto-related activities, including Bitcoin mining and digital asset ETFs. Consequently, this financial involvement has prompted renewed discussions about potential conflicts of interest.
Earlier in June 2025, World Liberty Financial issued a cease-and-desist letter to the company behind a $TRUMP memecoin concerning what the letter described as an "unauthorized" Trump-branded crypto wallet. Reportedly, the financial disclosure did not include income from the $TRUMP memecoin, as this coin launched in January 2025 and therefore was not covered by the 2024 reporting period. Meanwhile, World Liberty Financial has also released updates for its USD1 stablecoin, including bridge and swap features.
As of 03:09 UTC on June 16, World Liberty Financial USD (USD1) traded at $1.001. On June 16, CoinMarketCap reported its 24-hour trading volume decreased by 4.6%.
