Metaplanet, a Japanese corporation focused on corporate Bitcoin adoption, announced a $5 billion capital injection into its wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary, a move intended to fuel its global expansion efforts. This strategic initiative, which follows the initial capitalization phase completed last month, aims to support Metaplanet’s aggressive expansion stage and help establish a globally integrated treasury model. On June 24, 2025, The Block reported that Metaplanet’s board approved the $5 billion capital contribution, which the company expects to source by exercising stock acquisition rights. As a result, Metaplanet’s U.S. unit, based in Miami, Florida, will benefit from this significant financial boost, helping the company solidify its presence in the U.S. market. On June 24, 2025, Metaplanet stated in an official announcement, "While Metaplanet continues to pioneer corporate Bitcoin adoption in Japan, this U.S. expansion underscores our determination to establish a globally integrated treasury model." The announcement further highlighted that Metaplanet now holds 11,111 BTC, after adding 1,111 BTC to its treasury on the Monday before this announcement. This accumulation positions the corporation as the eighth-largest corporate holder of Bitcoin. Metaplanet expects this capital contribution to have a limited financial impact on its current fiscal year; however, the company will promptly disclose any significant updates. Following the news, Metaplanet's U.S. stock (MTPLF) closed down 5.9% at $11.64 on Monday, while its Tokyo-listed stock fell 6.36% during Tuesday afternoon trading.
