- Arthur Britto, the XRP Ledger's reclusive co-creator, posted publicly on X (formerly Twitter), ending his 14-year silence.
- XRP's value increased by 8.1%, coinciding with Britto's post and broader market optimism.
Arthur Britto, the enigmatic co-creator of the XRP Ledger and co-founder of Ripple Labs, resurfaced on June 23, 2025, posting on social media for the first time in 14 years. Ripple's Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz, subsequently confirmed the post's authenticity.
On June 24, 2025, Cointelegraph reported that Britto posted an emoji of a face without a mouth on X. This post marked the first activity on his account since its creation in August 2011. Britto made significant contributions to the cryptocurrency space, co-creating the XRP Ledger with David Schwartz and Jed McCaleb and co-founding Ripple Labs.
Britto has maintained an extreme level of privacy, with no verified photographs or public statements from him surfacing for years. This reclusive nature, further emphasized by his absence from Ripple Labs' public sphere and his limited documented activities, has consequently made him a figure of intrigue in the crypto community.
Following Britto’s post, XRP's value increased by 8.1% within 24 hours; however, this surge also aligned with broader market optimism stemming from news of a potential ceasefire in the Israel-Iran conflict. While the crypto community has speculated that Britto’s return could indicate significant upcoming developments for Ripple, these potential developments remain unconfirmed.
Britto's contributions to the crypto industry extend beyond Ripple Labs. He is the founder and president of PolySign, a blockchain infrastructure company, and Bitstamp also listed him as a director from May 2014 to September 2015. Furthermore, various legal documents, particularly the SEC’s lawsuit against Ripple Labs, recognize his involvement in creating the XRP Ledger and its native token, XRP.
As of June 24, 07:09 UTC, XRP (XRP) trades at $2.193, reflecting an 8.082% change.
