On April 14, 2024, TheStreet reported that Tether launched “tether.wallet,” a self-custodial mobile app for USDT, XAUt, USAT, and Bitcoin. The app aims to simplify cryptocurrency custody and everyday transactions for mainstream users, and it enables users to pay network fees directly with the asset being sent, removing the need for separate gas tokens. In addition, it supports human-readable @tether.me usernames for easier transfers.
TheStreet further reported that the app includes optional cloud-based backup of private keys, which is designed to give users additional security and convenience. All transactions are locally signed, ensuring that only users control their credentials. Moreover, the wallet is built on Tether’s open-source Wallet Development Kit and is now available for mobile download.
As of April 14, 2026, 15:08 UTC, market data showed that Tether USDt (USDT) was trading at $1.00, Bitcoin (BTC) at $74,948.35, and Tether Gold (XAUt) at $4,770.52.
