Trump’s Crypto Ventures Fuel $620 Million Windfall, Spark Lawmaker Pushback

Ferguson

- Trump’s crypto ventures add $620 million to his wealth.
- Growing congressional concerns over potential financial conflicts.
On July 2, 2025, Bloomberg reported that Donald Trump’s cryptocurrency ventures added $620 million to his wealth. These gains, however, have ignited fierce regulatory scrutiny in Congress. The financial surge stems from his family’s blockchain enterprise, World Liberty Financial, and his personal memecoin, Official Trump (TRUMP).
Trump and his family established the blockchain platform World Liberty Financial. The enterprise has reportedly earned $390 million from token sales and, as of June 2025, holds governance tokens worth over $2 billion. Bloomberg also noted that a partnership with an Abu Dhabi-based investment firm adds another $100 million to this wealth, as the firm used the platform’s stablecoin, USD1, for crypto investments on Binance.
Trump’s memecoin, Official Trump (TRUMP), added $150 million to his net worth. The report suggests he may see further gains when millions of locked TRUMP tokens are released over the next three years. Currently, cryptocurrency accounts for roughly 9% of Trump’s total wealth.
These financial achievements have stoked criticism from Democratic lawmakers, who cite potential conflicts of interest from Trump’s involvement in cryptocurrency. Lawmakers have introduced proposals in Congress to restrict government officials and their families from promoting or owning cryptocurrencies, but the measures have repeatedly failed to pass. During recent Senate budget debates, an amendment on this issue stalled in the Republican-led legislature.
Bloomberg also highlighted the crypto pursuits of Trump's sons, Donald Jr. and Eric Trump, who each own a 20% stake in American Bitcoin, a subsidiary of the crypto mining firm Hut 8. In June, the company raised $220 million to fund Bitcoin mining operations and investments, and it plans to go public in the near future.
According to market data on July 2, Official Trump (TRUMP) was trading at $8.884, a 3.07% increase over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, World Liberty Financial USD (USD1) remained stable at $1, marking a 0.032% change in 24-hour trading volume. Both assets continue to see active trading as of the latest update.
